This talk explores some of the mental health problems associated with excessive technology use and how, as parents and carers, you can achieve a healthier balance with technology for your family.

Delivered by Nicola MacDonald, Resilience Coach and Author of Resilient Teen. Parent talks are delivered in person in the local area.

KS2 Student Workshops

"Me and My Screen": How to Achieve a Healthier Balance with Technology

Delivered to 4 classes of 30 students in any year group (s). This interactive workshop is aligned with the PSHE Key Stage 2 national curriculum. Interactive discussion enables students to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the internet. Explores the impact of persuasive technology on us and on broader society. Empowers students to assess their online activities and determine if they are using their time productively. Equips students with strategies to achieve a healthier balance with technology. It lasts 1 hour and has received excellent feedback from staff and students. 

KS3 Student Workshops

‘The Healthy Selfie: How to Like Yourself in the Digital Age’. This workshop covers the following:-

  • The impact of social media on our self-esteem and how we feel and think about ourselves.

  • The effect of online comparison and time online on our wellbeing.

  • Top tips for getting a healthy balance with technology.

  • Exercises to grow self-esteem

It really was a superb talk that managed to stick to the facts, whilst offering a real world toolbox of ideas on how to tackle this huge issue
